Week one down

Sunday was my first full week of being smoke free! Yay me. Although I feel so much better, everything is different. Things don't taste the same and they smell absolutely horrible. I know the benefits far outweigh the negative side effects, but it truly sucks to not be able to eat tuna anymore *pout*

The workouts are a whole different story though. I am absolutely in love with it! the first week was HORRIBLE. I was sore for five days, could barely walk and was sleeping like crap. This week, I have already done more and my body is responding well. I can stretch just a little bit further, I can run a little longer, and I am feeling better in general as a person. My goals are not really to lose weight, but more to gain endurance and become healthier in the process.

The plan and progress so far

Sunday was day one of quitting. I had my last cigarette and went out for my first run. I was able to go about 30 seconds or so before I had to walk a little bit. I jogged as far as I could without killing myself and then walked. Chris (my husband) and I did this for a mile! Woo Hoo. On Monday it was basically the same thing... It wasn't until Tuesday that the fun really started.

I don't know how many of you have heard of a program called P90X... But if you have you know that it kicks the shit out of you if you are not in shape. We started the classic routine on Tuesday. Nearly an hour of push-ups, pull-ups and other body breaking things. We couldn't make it through the whole video *hides head in paperbag* We did manage to get out ten minutes of the ab ripper x video... Which I was still feeling today :) Even after all of that we were able to get a little bit of a jog in. I was able to go about 20 seconds longer than my first day! I was stoked.

Yesterday was plyometrics and today was shoulder and arms, plus the ab ripper Yesterday still really hurts. I am sure my arms are going to kill me tomorrow as well... But it is all good.

Tomorrow is Yoga. Should be good!

About Me :)

So this is always a fun post to write :) My name is Jessica. I am a 23 year old photographer (formal journalist) who is starting to become a bit healthier. When I say a bit I mean I am replacing all of my former bad addictions with some form of exercise and diet.

This all started about six weeks ago when my husband decided to quit smoking. At first I really wasn't ready to give up my best friend... So I just cut down to about five cigarettes a day. About a week ago I finally had my fill. I looked in the mirror and noticed just how out of shape I have become over the last few years. I know that the only way I am going to be able to look and feel the way that I want to is to get rid of the smokes... So that is what I did. Today marks day number 4 smoke free!

Anyway, that is the back story. Any questions and I will try to answer the best I can!
